 Special Session 1: Social Science in Distance Education

Description: The Special Session on Social Science in Distance Education brings together interdisciplinary perspectives to examine how contemporary societies are being transformed by rapid technological, cultural, and global changes. This session explores the impact of artificial intelligence on social structures, highlighting both opportunities and ethical challenges in human interaction, employment, and governance.
It also discusses sociological frameworks and cultural studies that deepen understanding of identity, diversity, and social behaviours across communities. In addition, the session addresses social resilience during crises, emphasizing adaptive strategies and collective responses to uncertainty and disruption.
Attention is also given to methodological innovations in social research, including digital and data-driven approaches that enhance academic inquiry. Finally, the session considers mental health and well-being in a changing world, focusing on the social factors influencing psychological resilience, inclusion, and quality of life in contemporary society.

Prof. Mon Mon Aung

Burmese American Community Institute, USA

Bio: Dr. Mon Mon Aung is a professor and researcher specializing in linguistics, Education, Teaching Methods, social science with particular expertise in the cultural dimensions of sociolinguistics and also a Member of Integrating Technology (Issue Date- 3.5.2026). She has an extensive background in analyzing the intersection of gender, linguistics, AI for education and culture in Myanmar and has published academic works. She has Sociolinguistics and Myanmar language teaching experience over 24 years and she taught Myanmar Language as the second language teaching to Myanmar ethnics and as a foreign language teaching to foreigners. She is a member of International Editorial Research Board of Asia Book Series and Journal of Education and Learning Reviews’. She is also an organizing member of the annual Spring Flowers International Conference, Burmese American Community Institute, United State. She is also a partner of Online Education Forum During Covid 19 and beyond, Australia-ASEAN Academics Forum (AAAF).
